Mount Edgcumbe and the Barrow Centre
The Wheelwright Gallery is to be found at the Barrow Centre on the Mount Edgcumbe Estate. The gallery has taken the name "Wheelwright" as it is housed in what orginally was the wheelwright workshop for the estate. This grade 2* listed building still maintains all orignal features including the double fronted doors alllowing the carriages to enter, wide oak planked flooring and markings on the walls and work benches are etched with memories of a time gone by.
Twisted Metal Arts are neighbous to the Wheelwright Gallery. Blacksmith Mark Stevens is to be found working in the original forge producuing a range of products from the stainless steel deer, a permanent residence on the estate, to ergonomic artifacts.
Mount Edgecumbe is a 600 acre country estate. The grand 15th Century house sits amongsts blue bell woods, and a colourful array of a fine camiilia collection. This is juxstopoed against the immaculate formal gardens and the line of trees which take you down to the sea.
